Methods in Producing Ag/MoS2 Plasmonic Photocatalyst Nanocomposite for Enhanced Visible-Light Driven Hydrogen Gas Evolution

1. Technology Overview

A method for preparing a nanocomposite photocatalyst is disclosed in accordance with some embodiments of a present invention. The method includes preparing nanoflakes of a semiconductor which produces a matrix for deposition of nanoparticles of a noble metal thereon. Further, the method includes reducing ions of the metal onto the semiconductor nanoflakes at room temperature which finally produces the nanocomposite photocatalyst. A synergistic effect from the semiconductor and the noble metal catalyst produces an improved yield of hydrogen gas and has improved properties of light absorption and longer life span of electron and holes.
