1. Technology Overview

The present invention disclosed a HA-Ti-BG functionally graded dental post with improved chemical, mechanical and thermal properties comprising hydroxyapatitetitanium layers incorporated with bioactive glass. Besides the present invention also disclosed a method of making the HA-Ti-BG functionally graded dental post. The HA-Ti-BG functionally graded dental post consists of 5 layers to and each layer contains different weight ratios of hydroxyapatite (HA), titanium (Ti) and bioactive glass (BG). The bioactive glass (BG) is a novel material invented by the present invention and it acts as a binder to decrease the sintering temperature for hardening the hydroxyapatite-titanium layers of the functionally graded dental post, thus, reduce the undesirable reactions which form brittle compounds in the functionally graded dental post structure.
